THE MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY
HALL OF TUSTIN ON MONDAY EVENTNG AT 7:00 P.M.
OCTOBER 20, 1947
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: KIDD, CHARLETON, HUMESTON, BACON AND
FORNEY.
ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: NONE
CITY ATTORNEY C. ARTHUR NISSON, JR. WAS PRESENT.
THE MINUTES OF THE LAST REGULAR MEETING WERE READ AND
ADOPTED ON THE ORDER OF THE MAYOR.
COMMUNI- A COMMUNICATION FROM THE ASSOCIATED CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
CATION CITING THE MEETING TO BE HELD AT THE SANTA ANA COMMUNITY
CENTER BUILDING OCT. 28, 1947, WAS RECEIVED.
MEMBERS WERE URGED TO ATTEND. THERE WAS ALSO A COMMUNI-
CATION FROM THE ORANGE COUNTY LEAGUE OF CITIES AND
ARRANGEMENTS WERE MADE FOR A GOOD ATTENDANCE. A
REPRESENTATION OF MR. JOE OJEDA, VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE
TUSTIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, AND ALSO MR. GREENWOOD,
SECRETARY-TREASURER OF THE TUSTIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE,
WERE PRESENT AT THE MEETING AND WERE INVITED TO GET A
DELEGATION TO ATTEND THIS VERY IMPORTANT MEETING. THE
MAYOR HAD A COMMUNICATION FROM THE ASSOCIATED CHAMBER
OF COMMERCE AT HUNTINGTON BEACH URGING PARTICIPATION
BY THE CITY IN THE ARMISTICE DAY CELEBRATION AND PARADE
AND HE IS ARRANGING TO HAVE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD FIT
OUT AN OPEN CAR AND PARTICIPATE.
TRAILER A COMMITTEE CONSISTING OF COUNCILMAN CHARLETON, CHIEF
CAMP OF POLICE MCMULLEN, AND CITY ATTORNEYNISSON, INVESTI-
INSPECTED GATED MARTIN TRAILER CAMP TO ASCERTAIN CORRECTIONS
BEING MADE TO BRING THE CONDITIONS REQUIRED OF TRAILER
CAMPS UP TO STANDARD, THE REPORT IS PROGRESS BEING
MADE IN MAKING CORRECTIONS ON THE VIOLATIONS.
NIGHT THE MATTER OF ASSISTANT CHIEF OF POLICE, OR NIGHT
MAN MAN, CAME UP FOR DISCUSSION AND THE COUNCIL WENT ON
RECORD TO GIVE TRIAL, FOR SIX MONTHS, AND INSTRUCTED
CHIEF OF POLICE, MCMULLEN, TO PRESENT APPLICATIONS, OF
WHICH ONE WAS TO BE SELECTED.
RESOLU- COUNCILEMAN CHARLETON MOVED AND IT WAS DULY SECOND AND
TION #199 CARRIED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION #199, THIS RESOLUTION
ADOPTED URGING A UNITED EFFORT TO HAVE ALL ORGANIZATIONS OF
THE COMMUNITY TO GET BEHIND THE COUNTY WIDE SANITARY
DISTRICT # SEVEN. ROLL CALL WAS FAVORABLE, WITH ALL
MEMBERS VOTING AYE.
PIPE LINE CITY ATTORNEY NISSON WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE COUNCIL TO
WRITE TO THE JOINT OWNERS OF A PIPE LINE THAT DELIVERS
WATER TO THEM FROM SECOND STREET, ON SOUTH "A" STREET,
COVERING ACREAGE AND FRACTIONS OF ACRES OWNED BY PROPERTY
OWNERS FROM THE SOUTH SIDE OF MAIN STREET, TUSTIN, TO
ACREAGE ON 6TH STREET AND ADJOINING ACREAGE OF GRISET
ESTATE AND BRADFORD HELLIS, INFORMING THEM OF THEIR LINE
BEING WITHIN THE STREET LIMIT AND INTERFERING WITH THE
DEVELOPMENT OF THE STREET, AND ASKING THAT THE LINE BE
ABANDONED OR REMOVED SO THE STREET WORK CAN BE CARRIED
ON.
BILLS COUNCILMAN BACON MOVED.TO PAY THE FOLLOWING BILLS.
COUNCILMAN FORNEY SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
