OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN
ON MONDAY EVENING AT 7:00 P.M. OCTOBER 6, 1947
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: KIDD, CHARLETON, HUMESTON, BACON, AND
FORNEY
ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: NONE
CITY ATTORNEY C. ARTHUR NISSON, JR. WAS PRESENT.
THE MINUTES OF THE LAST REGULAR MEETING OF SEPT. 15TH
AND ALSO THE ~INUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING CALLED
SEPT. 20TH WERE READ AND ADOPTED BY THE ORDER OF THE
MAYOR.
JUMPER'S CHELSEA H. JUMPER WAS PERMITTED TO BE HEARD AT THIS
SIGN TIME ON COMPLAINT OF HIS BUSINESS SIGN, WHICH, IT
SEEMS, HAD BEEN MOVED ABOUT ON THE PROPERTY OF THE
FILLING STATION AT MT. VIEW AND FIRST STREET. MR.
JUMPER FELT THAT HE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO ESTABLISH
HIS SIGN WITHIN THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE ORDINANCE AND
WAS INFORMED THAT AS LONG AS HIS SING WAS PLACED WELL
ONTO THE FILLING STATION PROPERTY THAT HE WOULD BE
WITHIN THE LAW.
TRANSFER OF NOTICE OF TRANSFER FROM JOHN. D. AND FREIDA W. CASPER
BUSINESS LIC. OFTHEIR BEER LICENSE FOR THE CAFE AT 505 W. FIRST
TO IVONE Z. DEVOS WAS RECEIVED AND PLACED ON FILE.
WATER CON- ATTORNEY ARTHUR NISSON GAVE A REPORT ON WATER CONSER-
SERVATION VATION, WHICH WAS THE TOPIC OF THE RECENT MEETING AT
THE NEWPORT YACHT CLUB. THE SHORTAGE OF UNDERGROUND
WATER AND POLLUTION OF THE WATER FOR DRINKING PUR-
POSES HAS COME TO BE ONE OF THE MOST PRESSING PROBLEMS
TO CONFRONT THE COMMUNITY. THIS IS ALL DUE TO THE
GREATER DEMAND FOR WATER AND MUCH CONCERN WAS EXPRESSED
BY MEMBERS OF THE ORGANIZATION ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY
OF THE SHORT RAINFALL FOR THE NEXT FEW YEARS WHICH
WOULD MAKE IT A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM.
RESOLUTION COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED THAT THE CITY OF TUSTIN
#199 PASS A RESOLUTION REQUESTING ADMISSION TO THE DISTRICT
NO. 7 OF THE ORANGE COUNTY SANTIARY DISTRICT. THE
2ND OF THE MOTION WAS GIVEN BY COUNCILMAN CHARLETON.
MOTION CARRIED. THIS RESOLUTION IS RECORDED IN OUR
BOOKS AS #199.
SANITARY THE COUNCIL INSTRUCTED THE CLERK TO SEND OUT LETTERS
DISTRICT TO THE VARIOUS ORGAINZATIONS WITH THE INTENT OF GAINING
A FAVORABLE IMPRESSION FOR THE PROJECT. A COPY OF THE
ABOVE RESOLUTION # 199 WAS ENCLOSED FOR THEIR CON-
SIDERATI ON.
NEW CHIEF MCMULLEN ASKED PERMISSION TO SET UP A BETTER
SIGNS LOT OF SIGNS FOR THE SCHOOL ZONE ON FIRST STREET, EX-
PLAINING THAT IT HAD BECOME QUITE A PROBLEM AND THAT
HE WISHED TO SET ONE OF THE SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION
OF SOUTH "A" STREET, AND THE OTHER AT "C" STREET, TO
ASSIST THE CROSSING OFFICER IN SLOWING DOWN THE
TRAVEL IN THE SCHOOL ZONE.

BILLS. COUNCILMAN BACON 2ND THE MOTION. MOTION
CARRIED.
