HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1947 09 15MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL, MONDAY EVENING, SEPT. 15, 1947, AT 7:30 P.M PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: KIDD, BACON, AND HUMESTON ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: CHARLETON AND FORNEY CITY ATTORNEY, C. ARTHUR NISSON, JR. AND CITY ENGINEER, J.L. MCBRIDE WERE PRESENT. THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF SEPT. 2, WERE READ TO THE COUNCIL AND APPROVED ON THE ORDER OF THE MAYOR. CORRES- A LETTER WAS RECEIVED FROM THE TUSTIN CHAMBER OF PONDENCE COMMERCE URGING THE CITY COUNCIL TO MAKE APPLICATION TO BE RECEIVED IN THE COUNTY WIDE MOVEMENT FOR SANITARY DISTRICTS FOR TUSTIN AND VICINITY. A LETTER WAS ALSO RECEIVED FROM W.R. NELSON, SUPERINTENDENT OF THE TUSTIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, STATING THAT THEY HAD MADE MR. C.R. SEYMOUR ONE OF THE REGULAR EMPLOYEES OF THE SCHOOL AN INCREASE IN SALARY OVER LAST YEAR AND FIGURED THAT IF THE CITY MET THE RAISE THAT IT WOULD BE NECESSARY FOR OUR CHECK TO MR. SEYMOUR TO. BE $5.00 MORE A MONTH THAN LAST YEAR OR 60.00. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED AND IT WAS DULY 2ND AND CARRIED TO GRANT THE $5.00 INCREASE IN THE SALARY OF MR. SEYMOUR FOR CROSSING GUARD. OBSTRUC- COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE J.L. MCBRIDE TIIONS IN "A" TO HAVE THE TREES, CEMENT PIPELINE, AND OTHER OB- STREET STRUCTIONS IN "A" STREET ROADWAY, REMOVED BY DAY LABOR AT A COST TO NOT EXCEED $250.O0. 2ND BY COUNCILMAN BACON. MOTION CARRIED. EQUIPMENT COUNCILMAN HOMESTON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE J.L. MCBRIDE FOR "A" ST. TO RENT EQUIPMENT AND EMPLOY HELP NECESSARY, BY DAY LABOR, TO EXCAVATE, GRADE, SHAPE, AND ROLL "A" STREET, FROM FIRST TO MAIN STREETS, AT A COST OF NOT TO EXCEED $1,000.00. COUNCILMAN BACON SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED. BILLS COUNCLMAN BACON MOVED TO PAY THE FOLLOWING BILLS. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRI ED. CARSON & GOLDING $34.99 FIRE DEPT. $12.00 TUSTIN HARDWARE $35.98 TUSTIN LUMBER CO. $6.47. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED TO ADJOURN. COUNCILMAN BACON SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED. Jerome C.
