TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, MONDAY EVENING AT
7:00 O'OLOCK, JULY 21, 1947
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: KIDD, CHARLETON, HUMESTON,
FORNEY, AND BACON
ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: NONE
CITY ATTORNEY, C. ARTHUR NISSON, JR. WAS PRESENT
THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF JULY 7, WERE
READ TO THE BOARD AND WERE ADOPTED BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR AS
THERE WERE NO CORRECTIONS NOR ERRORS REGISTERRED BY THE MEMBERS
CORRES- THE SECRETARY OF THE COUNTY LEAGUE GAVE NOTICE
PONDENCE OF THE NEXT LEAGUE'S MEETING IN SANTA ANA, THURS-
DAY, JULY 24, 1947, WITH SANTA ANA HOST FOR THE
EVENING. THE SPEAKER OF THE EVENING WAS LEON
DAVID, DEPUTY CITY ATTORNEY OF LOS ANGELES. THE
SUBJECT-- MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT ABROAD. A LETTER
WAS RECEIVED FROM W.J. CROCKETT, OF TUSTIN, CONCERN-
INGA PALM TREE THAT HE WISHES TO HAVE TAKEN OUT
OF THE CURB AT 2310 SO. C. STREET. THE MATTER
WAS REFERRED TO THE STREET COMMISSIONER, COUNCIL-
MAN HUMESTON, FOR RECOMMENDATION.
TAXI THE PROCEEDURE AND ALL REQUIREMENTS NECESSERY TO
LICENSE GRANT A TAXI LICENSE TO TUSTIN YELLOW CAB COMPANY
OWNERS, LELAND J. SHEPPARD, AND ALLEN HUSTED, WERE
DISOUSSED AND MR. CARMICAL OF THE AUTO CLUB WAS
BEFORE THE COUNCIL IN COOPERATION FOR THE INSURANCE
ANGLE TO PROTEOT THE CITY ON LIABILITY INSURANCE.
THE MATTER IS IN THE MAKING AND WILL BE WORKED
OUT BEFORE LICENSE CAN BE GRANTED THE APPLICANTS.
COUNCILMAN CHARLETON MOVED TO GRANT LICENSE TO
THE APPLICANTS WHEN THEY CONFORMED TO ALL THE
REGULATIONS. COUNCILMAN BACON SECOND THE MOTION.
MOTION CARRIED.
HUMESTON MAYOR KIDD APPOINTED COUNCILMAN VINCENT HUMESTON
SAFETY COMM-ON THE TRAFFIC SAETY COMMISSION COUNCIL.
ISSION COUNCIL
ORD. 72 HAS ON THE MOTION OF COUNCILMAN HUMESTON ORDINANCE
1ST. READING # 72 HAD ITS FIRST READING BY TITLE ONLY. COUNCIL-
MAN CHARLETON SECOND THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
BUDGET THE BUDGET FOR THE CURRENT YEAR GOT ITS GOING
OVER AND THE TOTAL OF THE AMOUNTS POSSIBLY NEEDED
WAS IN EXCESS OF THE LAST CURRENT TAX YEAR WAS
ESTIMATED TO BE AROUND $1200.O0
SLOW TRAFFIC THERE WAS A DISCUSSION ON THE NEEDS TO SLOW
TRAFFIC AT MAIN STREETS AND 101 HIGHWAY AND THE
CLERK WAS INSTRUCTED TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE
ADVISORY ENGINEER, J.L. MCBRIDE, AND HAVE HIM
CONFER WITH THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT AND WORK OUT
SOME METHOD TO ACCOMPLISH THE STOP OR SLOW DOWN,
IF POSSIBLE.
NIGHT MAN COUNCILMAN CHARLETON MOVED IN ORDER TO BRING THE
MATTER TO A HEAD WITH REGARD TO HIRING A NIGHT MAN
AT THIS TIME, THAT A VOTE OF THE COUNCIL BE TAKEN.
COUNCILMAN HUMESTON 2nd. MOTION.
NOES: COUNCILMEN: KIDD, CHARLETON, HUMESTON,
AND BACON.
COUNCILMAN FORNEY WAS NOT PRESENT,
HAVING BEEN EXCUSED FROM THE MEETING.
