OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN ON MONDAY EVENING AT
7 O'CLOCK MARCH 17, 1947
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: KIDD, BACON, FORNEY, HUMESTON, AND
CHARLETON ·
ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: NONE
CITY ATTORNEY C. ARTHUR NISSON JR. WAS PRESENT.
THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AND ASKED FOR THE MINUTES OF
THE PREVIOUS MEETING AND ORDERED THEM ADOPTED AS THERE WERE NO
ERRORS OR MISTAKES REGISTERRED BY OTHER MEMBERS OF THE BOARD,
THE MAYOR ASK IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THAT WAS WANTED BY VISITORS
TO THE MEETING. IF SO HE SAID THE MATTER COULD BE TAKEN UP AT THE
TIME. LEROY CONNALLY REQUESTED OF THE BOARD THAT HE BE GRANTED A
PERMIT TO ERRECT A BUILDING TO HOUSE HIS MACHINE SHOP AT 525 WEST
MAIN STREET. TO CLARIFY THE MATTER ATTORNEY NISSON INFORMED
COUNCIL AND MR. CONNALLY THAT HE WAS WITHIN HIS RIGHTS TO ASK FOR
AND HAVE A PERMIT FOR THE BUILDING AS LONG AS IT WAS ERECTED TO
CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE 1946 BUILDING CODE. MRS. CAROLYN
CAMPBELL POSTMISTRESS, INFORMED THE COUNCIL THAT SHE HAD CONFERRED
WITH POSTAL INSPECTOR WITH REGARD TO WHAT WIAS REQUIRED OF THE CiTY
TO HAVE RURAL MAIL DELIVERY AND SAID THAT THE, PROSPECTS SEEM
FAVORABLE, BUT WARNED THE COUNCIL THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE REQUIRED
THAT ALL HOMES THAT MAIL WAS TO BE DELIVERED TO HAVE THE PROPER
NUMBER ON THEM AND THAT THIS MUST BE DONE SO AS THE INSPECTOR COULD
SEND IN HIS REPORT ON MAY 23, 1947.
COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE ADOPTING
FIRE ZONE AND 1946 BUILDING CODE, AND COUNCILMAN CHARLETON SECONDED
THE MOTION. ROLL CALL WAS FAVORABLE. ALL MEMBERS VOTING AYE.
NONE TO THE CONTRARY. MOTION CARRIED.
COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED TO PAY HALF THE EXPENSE IN TRIMMING THE
MUULLBERRY TREE AT SECOND STREET AND PROSPECT AND THE PROPERTY
OWNER MRS. MILLER TO PAY THE OTHER HALF COST TO BE $15.00. COUNCIL-
MAN CHARLETON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
COUNCILMAN CHARLETON REPORTED THAT HE HAD INVESTIGATED THE COUNTY' S
DUMP GROUNDS AND DID TNOT C0NSIDER THAT THE CITY COULD DE-
PEND ON HAVING THE PRIVILEDGE TO DUMP THERE AS A CITIZEN
OF THE CITY OR COUNTV WOULD AS HE WAS INFORMED BY THE COUNTY
COUNSELOR, JOY OGLE, THAT THE CITIES OF THE COUNTY WOULD
BE CHARGED FOR DUMPING TRASH ON THE GROUNDS AND RECOMMENDED
THAT WE MAKE NO CHANGE IN HANDLING THE TRASH DISPOSAL AT
THIS TIME.
COUNCILMAN CHARLETON MOVED THAT THE BILLS PRESENTED BE PAID.
COUNCILMAN BACON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.

TUSTIN, PROTESTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A MACHINE SHOP ON
MAIN STREET LOTS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS.

COUNCILMAN FORTNEY MOVED TO NOT ISSUE BUSINESS LICENSE TO
MR. CONNELLY FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF HIS MACHINE SHOP UNTIL
FURTHER NOTICE AND INSTRICTED THE CITY CLERK AS ACOORDING
AS IT WAS BELIEVED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF HIS BUSINESS WOULD
BE A NUISANCE. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON 2ND MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED THAT THE PLAN UNDER CONSIDERATION
BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR LAND USES, BUILDING LINES,
SET BACKS, AND THE ZONING MAPS, CERTIFIED TO THE CITY COUNCIL
BE SET FOR PUBLIC HEARING PREP ARATORY TO ADOPTION BY ORDINANCE
BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON APRIL 7, 1947 AT 7:30 P. M. COUNCIL-
MAN BACON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
ON. THE MOTIOY OF COUNCILMAN FORNEY THE MEETING WAS ADJOURNED.
COUNCILMAN FRANK BACON SECONDED MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
