While complying with this request (our existing plan was approved in April of 1975), staff oontacted the designated City Physician at the time, Dr. l~mbert E. Dreibelbis, seeking a renewal to his commitment as the City's Medical and Health Coordinator during an ~nergency status. The Medical and Health Coordinator is a non-compensatory position, responsible for the following: Coordinates local emergency medical aid and public health services during a disaster. Communication is maintained with field units, hospitals and other vital facilities, including communication with the City's Community Services Department responsible for shelter and welfare concerns. Dr. Dreibelbis responded by declining our request (attachment 1), citing liability concerns and tL.~e constraints as major factors. Consequently, it places the City in a position to seek another professional in the medical field willing to accept the responsibility. Dr. Dreibelbis has reco~nended we approach Dr. Robin Oxman of the Tustin Community Hospital as a possible candidate to refill the position. Before contacting Dr. Oxman, staff felt that council should have the opportunity to recommend other professionals for the vacated position. RECOMMENDED ACTION Pleasure of the Council.
