HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1946 11 18 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN MONDAY EVENING AT 7 0'CLOCK, NOVEMBER 18TH 1946. PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: Kidd, Jacobs, Charleton, Humeston and the newly appointed David M. Forney. ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: None CITY ATTORNEY C. Arthur Nisson Jr. was present. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Kidd, and the Minutes of the last meeting adopted by order of the Mayor as there were no errors or ommissions noted. In the communications there was a notice of the monthly meeting of the County League of Cities for Nov. to be held at the Elks Club in Anaheim on the evening of Nov. 21st., the speaker to be Richard Carpenter, Legal Counsul of the California League of Cities. His subject will be Legislation as it may affect Calif. Cities. There was also a notice of the associated Chamber of Commerce announcing a meeting at Anaheim Elks Club on the Evening of the 29th of November, the meeting was called to hear a report by the Engineers of the Sanitery District on their progress in the prelimenary survey for Sanitation for the County RESOLUTION # 187 A Resolution No. 187 appointing David M. Forney to the Council filling a vacancy caused by the resegnation of Park from the Council, was adopted on the motion of Councilman Charleton seconded by councilman Humeston. Roll call resulted in all members voting Aye, none to the contrary. Motion carried. John D. Casper was before the board and a petition with 40 names favoring the granting of an no sale of Beer for the Dean and Frida Cafe. Councilman that in view of the names on the petition the Council approve his making application to the State Board of Equalization for the license. Councilman Jacobs seconded the motion. Motion carried. Mrs. Gowdy was before the Board to follow up Mrs. Margaret Morrisons request in her letter to the Board, asking the Council to help the Library in paying the additional cost in rent for their Library quarters in Tustin. Councilman Charleton got in touch Supervisor Golden of this district and learned that the superv- isors intended to pay the full amount for the rental of the building and no further action was taken by the council in the matter. Arrangements were made for the purchase of the Four-door super delux Ford car for the City, whichwas ready for delivery. Mayor Kidd made the following appointments Councilman Charleton was named as Fire and Poice Commissioner Councilman Humeston on the Streets and Parks Commission Councilman Forney to serve on Utilities, Sanitiation and Recreation. Fire zoneing with a revival of a planning Comission for zoning purposes were deceided on at the meeting.. Councilman Charleton moved that the Bills be paid, Councilman Jacobs seconded the motion. Motion carried. Councihan Humiston moved and Councilman Charleton seconded that the City of Tustin pay up to $20.00 per month as rent of the Library quarters if the County Supervisors would not pay all the rent.
