HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1946 10 21 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY OF TUSTIN ON MONDAY EVENING AT 7 O'CLOCK P..M. OCTOBER 21,1946. PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: KIDD, PARK, HUMESTON, JACOBS, CHARLETON ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN NONE. MAYOR KIDD CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AND ALL MEMBERS OF THE BOARD WERE PRESENT THE NAYOR ORDERED THE AD~OPTEON OF THE MINUTES OF THE MEET.A ING OF OCTOBER 7, as read. COMMUNICATIONS WERE NEXT ON THE LIST OF BUSINESS FOR THE COUNCIn. THE LEAQUE OF CITIES LETTER ANNOUNCING THE MONTHLY DINNER MEETING AT LAGUNA BEACH . A COMMUNICATION FROM THE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT. ASKING THAT AN EX- tention alarmes be placed at CARSON AND GOLDING AND THE POOL ROOM TO AID IN GIVING QUICK SERVICE IN START- ING THE SIREN IN CASE OF FIRE. MAYOR KIDD IS TO INVESTIGATE THIS COMMUNICATION. COUNCILMAN COUNCILMAN PARK IN HIS LETTER OF RESIGNATION TO THE PARK RESIGNS MAYOR STATED THAT AS HE HAD SOLD HIS RESIDENCE HE FROM THE BOARD WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO QUALIFY AS A COUNCILMAN AND STATED HIS REGRETS FOR HAVING TO TAKE THE ACTION. COUNCILMAN MOVED FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF COUNCILMAN PARK'S RESIGN- ATION AND COUNCILNAN JACOBS 2nd THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED. FURTHER COMMUNICATIONS WERE AN APPLICATION BY L.K. STEVENSON TO SERVE AS NIGHT OFFICER AND MRS. RICKETTS OF 122 N. C STREET, APPLYING FOR THE JOB OF CROSSING OFFICER. THE APPLICATIONS WERE ORDERED FILED WITH THE CHIEF OF POLICE FOR HIS CONSIDERATION AND RECOMMENDATION. CHIEF McMULLEN REPORTED ON THE NEEDS OF CLEANING UP GUTTERS FOR THE WINTER SEASON AND WAS TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER FOR BEST METHODS FOR THE WORK. THE MATTER VENDING MACHINES "PEANUT AND CIGARETT" FOR LICENSING THEM WERE DISCUSSED. NO ACTION TAKEN. THE REPORT TO THE COUNCIL THAT THE SCHOOL BOARD HAD DECIDED TO INSTALL A MAN WHO WOULD DO THE CROSSING OFFICER'S WORK FOR THE CITY IF THE CITY WOULD PAY 75 DOLLARS PER MONTH OF HIS SALARY. WAS ACCEPTED ON THE MOTION OF COUNCILMAN CHARLETON AND 2nd BY COUNCILMAN HUMESTON. MOTION CARRIED. COUNCILMAN CHARLETON MOVED .THAT THE CITY BUY A CAR FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND RESTRICT THE COST TO NOT MORE THAN $1500. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON 2nd THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIE~D. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED TO PAY THE FOLLOWING BILLS: CARSON & BOLDING $ 25.73 EARL KIDD 45.58 DIEHL& CO. 50.00 WALTER SIEFERT 32.00 COUNCILMAN JAC0BS 2nd THE MOTION, MOTION CARRIED.
