CITY COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA
HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN
MONDAY EVENING AT 7 O'CLOCK SEPT.
16,1946.
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: KIDD, PARK, HUMESTON, JACOBS,
AND CHARLETON.
ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: NONE
MAYOR KIDD CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDED AND ALL
MEMBERS OF THE BOARD WERE PRESENT. THE MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
WERE READ AND ADOPTED ON THE ORDER OF THE MAYOR.
IN THE CORRESPONDANCE: WILLIAM H. GRAY, SECRE-
TARY OF THE SOFT BALL ORGANIZATION THROUGH HIS LETTER TO THE COUNCIL
EXPRESSED THE APPRECIATION OF HES ORGANIZATION FOR THE LOYAL HELP THAT
THE BOARD HAD GIVEN THEM IN DONATI0N OF CASH AND MORAL SUPPORT THAT MADE
THE SEASON FOR THEM SUCH A SUCCESS, AND INVITED THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL
WITH THE ELECTIVE OFFICERS AND APPOINTED PERSONEL TO A BARBAQUE TO BE
HELD AT BENNIE OSTERMAN'S RANCH AT EL TORO SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 22nd at one O'
CLOCK.
MRS. LEONARD COEFMAN PRESIDENT OF THE PARENT
TEACHER ASSOCIATION OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WITH A DELEGATION OF ITS
MEMBERS WAS PRESENT AT THE MEETING TO TAKE UP THE OLD CONTROVERTIBLE
QUESTION OF A CROSSING OFFICER FOR FIRST STREET AT C. OR B. STREET.
SOME MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL TOOK THE STAND THAT THE CROSSING GUARD WAS
A MATTER FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD TO MAINTAIN, AND THAT THEY FELT THAT IF
THE CITY PAID FOR THE ACTUAL TIME THAT WAS TAKEN UP FOR THE WORK AND THE
SCHOOL HAVE A GUARD THAT WAS REGULARLY DEPUTISED OFFICER THAT THE WORK
WOULD BE MORE EFFECTIVE, AND THAT THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY FROM
FIFTY TO SIXTY DOLLARS A MONTH TOWARD MAINTAINING A CROSSING GUARD.
AFTER A LENGTHY DISCUSSION OF THE MATTER THE BOARD PROMISED TO HAVE THE
CHIEF OF POLICE CONFER WITH THE SCHOOL BOARD IN WORKING OUT THE BEST WAY
TO HANDLE THE MATTER AND TO REPORT BACK AT THE NEXT COUNCIL MEETING.
ADOPT RESO. 183 RESOLUTION #183 WAS ADOPTED ON THE MOTION OF
COUNCILMAN CHARLETON AND SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN PARK. ROLL CALL WAS
ALL OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL VOTING FAVORABLE. MOTION CARRIED.
THEE RESOLUTION IS THE INCREASING THE SALARY OF THE CITY JUDGE FROM
SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS A MONTH TO ONE HUNDRED.
THE MATTER OF FIRE ZONING WAS DISCUSSED AGAIN
AND MAYOR ASKED COUNCILMAN PARK ONE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE COMNITTEE
ON ZONING TO INVESTIGATE AND REPORT BACK ON THE SUBJECT.
MAYOR KIDD AND COUNCILMAN CHARLETON ASKED PER-
MISSION TO GO OUT OF STATE AND TO BE ABSENT AT THE NEXT COUNCIL MEET-
ING. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED THAT PERMISSION BE GRANTED THE MAYOR
AND COUNCILMAN AND IT WAS SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN PARK. MOTION CARRIED.
COUNCILMAN JACOBS MOVED THAT THE ONE BILL UP
FOR PAYMENT BE PAID (D. C, HUDSON RENOMOVING TREE ON PACIFIC $40.00)
COUNCILMAN HUMESTON SECONED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
COUNCILNAN JACOBS MOVED THAT THE MEETING AD-
JOURN. COUNCILMAN HUMESTON SECONED THE NOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
