HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1946 07 22 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN ON MONDAY EVENING AT 7 O'CLOCK JULY 22, 1946. PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: PARK, CHARLETON, HUMESTON AND JACOBS. ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: KIDD COUNCILMEN PARK WAS CHOSEN TO ACT AS MAYOR PRO TEM ON THE MOTION OF COUNCILMEN CHARLETON AND SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN HUMESTON. MOTION CARRIED. THE MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL WAS READ BY THE CLERK AND ADOPTED ON THE ORDER OF THE MAYOR PRO TEM AS THERE WERE NO ERRORS OR CORRECTIONS REGISTERED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL. COMMUNICATIONS: CITY ATTORNEY GEO. E. BRADLY GAVE THE COUNCIL OPINION ON THE MATTER OF THE PAYING OF THE STREET SUPERINTEN- DENT OUT OF THE STREET FUND INSTEAD OF GENERAL FIND IN HIS COMMUNICATIONS OF JULY 8 to COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED THAT THE COUNCIL ACCEPT THE RECOMMENDATION OF ATTORNEY BRADLY RULING AND COUNCILMAN,JACOBS SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED. OTHER THE NOTICE OF THE LEAGUE OF CITIES NEXT MEETING AT COMMUNICATIONS SAMS CAFE SEAL BEACH JULY 26TH, AND NOTICE OF THE AS- WERE SOCIATED CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING ALSO AT SAM' S PLACE JULY 30TH. THE COMMUNICATIONS WERE ORDERED FILED. C. ARTHUR NISSON WAS APPOINTED CITY ATTORNEY OF TUSTIN BY THE ADOPTION OF THE RESOLUTION NO.177. C. CHARLETON MOVED FOR THE ADOPTION, COUNCILMAN HUMESTON SECONDED THE MOTION. ROLL CALL ON THE ADOPTION SHOWED COUNCILMAN PARK VOTING AYE, COUNCILMAN CHARLETON AYE, COUNCILMAN JACOBS AYE, AND COUNCILMAN HUMESTON AYE. NONE TO THE CONTRARY. MOTION CARRIED. COUNCILMAN CHARLETON MOVED OF THE COMPLETION OF THE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION, COUNCILMAN HUMESTON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED. J. L. MCBRIDE, CONSULTING ENGINEER, AND ROBERT NOBLE, MANAGER FO THE SULLY MILLER CONTRACTIMG COMPANY WAS BEFORE THE COUNCIL DISCUSSING PLANS FOR STREET WORK. THE CONSULTING ENGINEER RECOMMENDED TO THE COUNCIL TO RUN A PROFILE AND ESTABLISH TRADE ON A STREET FROM 1st TO MAIN AND ALSO SECOND STREET, THIRD STREET FROM B STREET TO PACIFIC. THEY ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT THE MONEY TO BE SPENT ON THE STREETS AT THIS TIME SHOULD BE IN PUTTING THE STREET GRADE AND OILING IT, AND MAKE FURTHER IM- PROVEMENT AS MONEY BECOMES AVAILABLE. COUNCILMAN CHARLETON MOVED TO PAY THE FOLLOWING BILLS: RALPH CUNNINGHAM $5.00 (for CHIEF HEARD'S BOND) DIEHL COMPANY $62.50 GRIMES AND COMPANY$30.20 COUNTY LEAGUE DUES$12.50 COUNCILMAN HUMESTON MOVED THAT THE MOTION BE CARRIED.
