SUBJECT: CONSENT TO REMOVE PARKWAY TREES
The ash trees at the shopping center at 6th Street and E1Camino Way were removed
last year and all the damaged concrete work redone. However, two ash trees on the
west side of 6th Street at E1Camino Way near the Tustin Garage were not removed.
We did repair the hazardous sidewalk on that contract and now we should remove
these two remaining trees in that area before they damage the new concrete.
Notification was distributed to the neighbors and only one objection was received
regarding the removal. The owner of the TustinGarage protested due to the shade
the trees furnish and their historical value.
I can appreciate h~s concern for the shade, however, the trees will break the new
cement in a short time and the replacement of sidewalk costs increase every year.
RECOMMENDATION:
The pleasure of the Council.

City Center
Dear Property Owner:
The city wishes to remove the two Evergreen Ash trees on the 6th
Street side of 560 E. E1Camino and replace them with a suitable
tree that does not put its roots on top of the ground and break
the sidewalks, curbs and gutters.
We have replaced the damaged sidewalk and we want to remove these
trees before the roots damage the new walk. Since removal of these
trees effects your environment, we therefore request your con~ents.
If we have not heard from you in writing within l0 days, we will
assume you approve of their removal..
If you have any questions, please feel free to call my office
at 544-8890 ext. 240.
Sincerely,
Maintenance Superintendent
