The attached list indicates the parcel of land affected by the proposed under- ground utility District No. 5 and a preliminary cost estimate for each required electrical and/or telephone service conversion. Following is a tentative schedule for project implementation: Informal meeting with Task Force Confirm final boundaries of proposed underground district from Edison and Telephone Co.'s and obtain updated cost estimates for work within the public right-of-way May 21, 1980 June 20, 1980 Redevelopment Agency adopts minute order setting a public hearing for said district July 7, 1980 - First legal advertisement July 10, 1980 - Second legal advertisement July 17, 1980 - Public hearing for formation of underground dlstrict_Aug. 4, 1980 This tentative schedule is based upon the formation of a normal underground district. Any deviation from the normal type district, such as a 1911 Assessment Act proceeding, would require additional time to process the required paperwork. It is most likely that the utility companies will not proceed with any further plans until such time a definite and certain underground district has been es- tablished. At this time, it is important that a theme be established for the downt~n area, so that the style of street lights can be established. This street lighting will be installed at the same time the overhead utilities are converted to underground.
