HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
DAN BLANKENSHIP - CITY ADMINISTRATOR
FIRE SERVICE FOR THE CITY OF TUSTIN
As Council is aware, the staff has been working to explore alternative
ways of providing fire service for our community. A report is expected
to be completed the week of April 28th and will be delivered separately
from the agenda when ready.
The report will show as primary alternatives: a continued County con-
tract, a City traditional fire department, and a City "public safety"
department. As any change from our present contract would take six-to-
twelve months to implement, the City will almost invariably be contracting
for County service for fiscal year 1980-81.
No decision is requested at this time as this is a major decision. It
is expected that Council may require 45 days in which to study the matter
and make a decision. The community also needs to have time to be aware
of these alternatives.
Council may wish a workshop on this matter and/or agendize the issue for
the May 19th meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Dan Bl~kenship ~r~
City Administrator
