HomeMy WebLinkAboutPUBLIC CONCERNS 03-17-80DATE TO: FROM: SUBJECT: MARCH 13, 1980 DAN BLANKENSHIP, CITY ADMINISTRATOR BOB LEDENDECKER, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER REQUEST FOR LOAD LIMIT ON LOCAL STREET (OLWYN DRIVE) On March 12th, Staff received a complaint from a Tustin resident, Mrs. Mona Sharpe, regarding the overnight parking of large commercial trucks on or near Olwyn Drive or the immediate vicinity. It was also indicated that the truck parks off-street within a private driveway. The vehicle is started in the early morning hours and left running for a period of time which results in an annoyance to the surrounding residents. In order to eliminate this vehicle from the residential neighborhood, it has been · requested that a weight limit be placed on Olwyn Drive. This weight limit could be established per Section 5340d(5) - Traffic Regulations of the Tustin City Code by the adoption of a resolution designating same. When a load limit is placed upon any street it creates an additional enforcement duty for the Police Department which is usually in an isolated area and routine enforcement would probably not be feasible. However, just the existence of the load limit signs may.provide some relief. If the City Council is desirous of placing a load limit on this street, it is re- commended that the limit be placed upon both Olwyn Drive and Woodlawn Avenue as shown on the attached sketch and that the attached Resolution be passed and adopted.
