updated estimate
In September 1979 I advertised {or bids, exfendin9 bids fo 25 firms. No bids
were received.
In November 1979 t again advertised fo the same firms. Again, there was no
response. Subsequent continuous feiephonin9 finally resulted in one estimator
agreein9 to visit City Hall. Repeated telephonin9 fo this one estimator, after
his visit, resulted in his submiffln9 a bid.
The heavy new construction work load within Orange County have construction
suppliers and contractors overwhelmed with work. I notice the long lead times
for this type work holding up completion of new buildings under construction
within Tusfin. The estimator fold me he was delayed in sending the bid because
he was working in the field. Alteration work is not as much "fun" nor as pro-
ductive as new construction.
Attached is a copy of the bid for this project, totaling $3,200. This price is
about 40% high. However, I feel we are lucky to receive any bid af all.
I recommend approval of this project in the amount of $3,200.
