TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROH: DAN BLANKENSHIP, CITY ADMINISTRATOR
SUBJECT: COUNTY CONTRACT FOR ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES
Attached is a proposed agreement to extend the City's contract with the
County for animal control services one year from its present June 30, 1980,
termination date. There is no cost to the City as the contract expenses
are recovered by the County through issuing dog licenses and other fees in
all areas served by the County.
I would categorize the County's service as marginally adequate, primarily
due to the limited manpower and resulting service response, but the cost of
attempting to provide this service by our m~n employees would probably be
much more expensive. Until and unless we encounter significant problems with
the service, I recommend that we continue with this contract.
