Certainly they are of far greater value than those championed by overstaffed state and federal bureaucracies, which unquestionably devour your tax dollars. The state locally collects a 6% sales tax, but only returns slightly more than to to local government. The rest stays in Sacramento where a massive budget surplus has proved to be an irresistible temptation for Sacramento politicians to unde-rNrite their pet projects. Ralph Welsh, Jr. 0 Mr. James Frazier Congress for Interplanetary Technology and Education 15560 Tustin Village Way No. 53 Tustin, California 92680 Dear Dor. Frazier: The City Council commends the efforts of Brian Scott and yourself in producing the video film "Common Man and Survival" as a unique effort on your part to improve communications between the President: of the United States and the general public. It would be inappropriate .for the Council to express an official view on the film or subject matter as the individual comments and personal opinions of these Tustin residents should speak for them- selves. These comments and individuals are not a full representation of the community, nor does the film represent the full scope or char- acter of the Tustin Community. Obviously, such an effort would be much more extensive and ex;nensi.ve. Once again, thank you for your civic effort in this project. We hope you have a pleasant trip to Wasl:Jngton, D.C.. Sincerely yours, Stephen L. Schuster favor SLS/hlr If you have any other comments, etc., You wash to include, change, or nrhatever, please respond to this office before the next Council meeting on .1/21/80, so I may revise the draft. Thank you Holly - oil January 10, •0 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council City of Tustin Centennial Way at Main Tustin, CA 92680 Attn: Mr. Dan Blankenship City Administrator Gentlemen: At the direction of the Board of Directors of the Tustin Chamber of Commerce at its regular meeting on Wednesday, January 9, 1980, I am writing this letter to advise you that our organization has formally withheld any endorse- ment or support of the C.I.T.E. film, "Common Man and Survival", and all attending proposed programs. The Board has seen the film and been acquainted with the ancillary programs and feels it would not be in the best interests of this organization or the community to foster the continuance of C.I.T.E.'s proposed plans. The reasons for this position are many and varied and in the wisdom of our Board are most valid. Your honorable body is hereby aware of our stand and we will take the opportunity to advise Mr. James Frazier of this decision as well as other public and private individuals and organizations. If there are any additional questions, please contact me or Linda Poremba, the Chamber of Commerce Executive Manager. Sincerely, w-y.QQ W. G.
