OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL
OF TUSTIN MONDAY EVENING JUNE
19TH 1944.
PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: Kldd, Rawlings, Gates, and Howell
ABSENT WERE:COUNCILMEN: Forney
CITY ATTORNEY GEO. E. BRADLEY WAS PRESENT.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor
Jerome C.Kidd. The Minutes of the meeting of June 5th was
read, and approved as corrected.
Mrs J.W.Means was before the Board asking that
the City assume a portion of the cost of trimming of the
large popular tree that stands in the south East corner of
her property on west main Street at A Street. She stated
that while the tree was planted on her property that it had
grown onto the City's property on the sidewalk as well as on
Mr. B.F.Beswick' s East of her property line. She ask that a
part of the expense be born by others she thought that would
be benefited by the trimming of the tree. The cost was stated
to be $65.00.Councilman Howell moved that Councilman Rawlings
be empowered to represent. the City in assuming a fair share
of the Cost of the trimming of the tree and eliminating the
menace. Councilman Gates seconed the motion which carried.
Francis Holford of 155 So A.Street asked the
Street department look into the condition of his gutter in
front of his property so that cars could be parked there with
safety. Street Commissioner Rawlings promised to look into
the matter within a day or so.
Councilman Rawlings moved that the County's
Agricultural Department be authorised to spray noxious
weeds within the City limits at not to exceed a cost of
twenty five dollars. Councilman Howell 2nd the motion and
the motion carried.
Walter J Pollard
Resigns as The letter of resignation of Treasurer Walter
Treasurer Pollard who asked that he might be released from the treas-
urers posation on account of his many duties of his own
business,was acted on by the motion of Councilman Rawlings
that we accept the resignation as of July the first. The
motion was seconed by Councilman Gates. the motion Carried.
Idas H.Harper Idus H.Harper was appointed to fill the unexpired
is appointed term as Treasurer vacated by the resignation of Treasurer
Treasurer Pollard on the adoption of Resolution #148 by the motion of
Councilman Rawlings and seconed by Councilman Gates. Motion
Carried. A Roll Call results were All ayes No Noes. Councilman
Forney was absent.
Street Dept. W.H.Landis Truck Driver for the Street Depart-
Workers ment was given a raise in salary from 135.00 to 150.00 per
get Raise month and Geo H.Spicer assistant to Landis was raised from .,.~.~
in pay 115.00 to 125.00 on the motion of Councilman Howell and
the second to the motion was given by Councilman Gates.
The motion Carried
Ordinance #66 Ordinance #66 was adopted on the motion of
was adopted Councilman Rawlings and seconed by Councilman Gates. The
Ordinance is amending Ordinance #52 to adjust Business
License to make them more urniform, Motion Carried Results of
the roll Call was all present voted aye no noes. Councilman Forney
was absent.
Boyd Lentz Resolution #149 was adopted.this resolution appointing
Hired as Boyd Lentz Chief of Police to fill the Vacancy left by
Chief of the resignation of the former Chief Jack V.Claborn was
Police acted on by the motion of Councilman Gates and Rawlings
furnishing the second to the motion Motion Carried.
Roll Call was asfollows Councilman Kidd Aye Rawllngs
Aye, Gates aye, and Howell aye None to the Contrary
Councilman Forney was absent.
The Council gave some consideration to the
matter of having monthly meetings of the Council in-
stead of the twice a month meetings. No action was taken.
Councilman Rawlings moved that they pay the
only bill presented by the Clerk the bill was for Office
work by Sadie Reyes $20.00 for work on copying Tax Asse-
ssments. Councilman Howell 2nd the motion. Motion Cartied.
Councilman Rawlings Moved the meeting adjourn,
the second was furnished by Councilman Howell.
