HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1944 03 20447 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SEMI MONTHLY MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN, MONDAY EVENING AT 7O'CLOCK MARCH 20TH 1944. PRESENT WERE; COUNCILMEN: Kidd, Rawlings, Gates and Broomell.. ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: Forney ATTORNEY GEO. E. BRADLEY WAS PRESENT. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor Jerome C.Kidd, and the minutes of the meeting of March 6th were read and approved Communications were then called for by the Mayor and a letter from Mr. A.A. Beard, Superintendent of Highways, with a copy of a letter received by him from General Petroleum Corporation sighting the need for better markings for the turn off 1st. Street South through town on D Street and they sighted two accidents occuring there lately. The Board took action in the matter by instructing the Clerk to write the Districts Engineer Department in Los Angeles to ask that an investigation be made of this as as well as the other corner where the Highway leaves D Street and turns toward San Diego, by their Department and inform us what signs could be installed that might be helpful that would meet with the requirments of the Highway Department. On the motion of Councilman Rawlings and seconded by Councilman Gates, the City Clerk was given permission to hire someone to assist in the office while he did the assessing for the unsecured license in the City. Motion carried. A discussion of the Mutual Aid Fire plan was entered into by the City of Tustin by the Board adopting the plan on the motion of Councilman Broomell that the plan be adopted and that the Mayor be authorized to sign the same for the City This was seconded by Councilman Rawlings. Motion carried After generally discussing the licenseing of amusement devices and machines in the City, the Council instructed Jack Claborn to collect licenses on such machines as the Ordinance provides for at 15 cents per machine. 448 Street Commissoner Gates and Street Superintendent Claborn brought up the question of the problem of water standing in front of the Hillyard property on First Street and backing up in front of the Lumber Yard, they promised a full investigation in the matter and report back to the Council at the next meeting. Street Superintendent Claborn reported that he would get a bid on removing the Pepper tree in the parking on Mountain View Street which is raising the Sidewalk. Bills were presented and on the motion of Councilman Gates and seconded by Councilman Rawiings the following were ordered paid. Semi Monthly Pay Roll W.H.
