HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1943 12 20 439 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SEMI MONTHLY MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, MONDAY EVENING AT 7 O'CLOCK DECEMBER 20TH 1943. PRESENT WERE: COUNCILMEN: RAWLINGS, GATES AND BROOMELL. ABSENT WERE: COUNCILMEN KIDD AND FORNEY ATTORNEY GEO. E. BRADLEY WAS PRESENT. Councilman Rawlings was the unanimous choice to act as Mayor pro tem in the absence of Mayor Kidd,and the meeting was than called to order by the Mayor pro tom Rawlings. The minutes of the last meeting were called for ,read and approved. Communications were then read to the Council by the Clerk and orded filed. Among the communications there was a letter signed by H.H.Hannaford former Deputy Assessor concerning the application of F.C.Silver for the rebate of taxes claimed erroneously assessed and collected through assessment no 346.In the letter Hannaford sta- ted that as Deputy Assessor for the City of Tustin he had,under assessment no 346 erroneously assessed the property therein involved in that he had assessed improvements valued at $1620.00 when no such improvements existed on said property and that this assessment had carried through from the year 1937-1938 for six succssive years. It was moved by Councilman Broomell that this obvious error be correctd andthe City Clerk and ex-officio Assessor correct his records in connection therewith and that a warrent be drawn to the Tax payor who paid such erroneus assessments in such amount as equils the amount paid by such Taxpayor on improvements which did not exist. the motion was seconed by Councilman Gates and carried. Mr. Smith of 135 So A Street come before the Coun- col to protest that on account of the gutter being clogged up below him that it was interfearing with the runoff from the rains and the and the water would go in on his drive way. The matter was refered Street Commissioner and Street Superintendant. On the motion of Councilman Broomell and seconed by Councilman Gates 141 was adopted Rool Call have the following results Councilman Rawlings Aye ,.Councilman Gates Aye, Councilman Broomell Aye None to the Contrary, Councilman Kidd and Councilman Forney were Absent. Motion Carried. The Resolution created a position to be known as Deputy Tax Collector and to have a salary of $25.00 permonth payment to begin January first 1944. Bills were called for and , on the motion of Coun- cilman Gates and seconed by Councilman Broomell were orded paid. The Motion carried, Warrent # 535 To W.H.
