HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1942 06 01390 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, HELD IN THE CITY HALL JUNE 1, 1942, 8 P.M. PRESENT: Councilman Forney, Rawlings and Cawthon, ABSENT: Councilman Kidd, and Bixler. City Attorney Bradley also present, Forney acts Councilman Forney took charge of the meeting acting as Mayor as Mayor Pro Tem in the absence of Mayor Kidd who is still on the sick list. Pro tem Minutes of May 18, 1942 read and approved. City Attorney City Attorney Bradley gave an interesting report on the Bradley makes League of Cities Meeting which he attended in Orange on report May 27th. The feature of the meeting was the discussing of an agreement which was drafted and proposed by the League Secretary Roy H. Overacker and City Attorney Lew Blodgett of Santa Ana. The proposed agreement would permit one City to go to the aid of another in case of a fire which had gotten out of control and to do so for a hire whereas now they do not have the right. The Attorney stated that there would be further discussion on the subject at a meeting robe held on June 11th at Swansons Cafe in Santa Ana and that he expected to attend and would then fully advise the Council on the advisability entering into the contract. proper method City Attorney Bradley also explained the proper method for closing of going about the closing of Third Street as requested 3rd St. by the Parent Teachers Association last meeting. Mr Bradley stated that it would be necessary for the Council to order the street vacated and closed and then time would have to be had to hear any protest to the closing of the street. The Council instructed the Attorney to go anead with the necessary plans and the matter could be settled in this way. Res. #122 On the motion of Councilman Rowlings, seconded by adopted. Councilman Cawthon Resolution #122 was adopted naming the Inspectors for the City of Tustin. Harold O.Rasmussen Building Inspector Harry Crow Plumbing Inspector W.O. Packard Electrical Inspector All are Inspectors of and for Santa Ana.. AYES Councilmen Forney, Rowlings, Cawtnon Noes None ABSENT Councilman Kidd, and Bixler. Motion carried and the Resolution was adopted. Council At the request of the Street Supt. Jack Claborn, Bill Landis hires Bill was hired to fill the vacancy made by Earl Handley who is on Landis to his two week vacation. fill in for Earl Handley Councilman Cawthon stated that he had made no arrangements about a Hoist for the Trash Truck and the Street Supt. was instructed to assist Councilman Cawthon in locating a Hoist or investigate the possibilities of exchanging the Truck for a Dump Truck. Steet Supt. Jack Claborn was also instructed to see about removing the leaning tree on Main Street. On motion of Councilman Rowlings, seconded by Councilman Cawthon, Jack Claborn was instructed to get a Fire Extinguisher for his car. Motion carried and so ordered. Chief Claborn requested, and was granted permission to go outside the City on emergency calls for the Sheriffs Office and the Highway Patrol BY motion of Councilman Rowlings 2nd. by Councilman Forney Motion Carried. 391 One week extention of time was asked by the Street Superintendent on the weed campaign to allow time for the lot owners to get the lot ploughed.
