OF THE CITY COUNCIUL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
HELD AT THE CITY HALL, IN THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, AT EIGHT O'CLOCK, ON MAY 4th 1942
Reading of the Minutes of the April 21st Meeting approved
as corrected.
MAYOR OPENS Mr. Murry of the Irvine Company spoke of the
MEETING TO privledge the Irvine Company was extending the
VISITORS FOR City by allowing the City to burn it's refuse
DISCUSSION OF and waste matter on the Irvine Company land, and
MATTERS OF ask that the grounds be kept in good condition so
INTEREST. the unburnable matter did not accumulate. He said
this privilege might be extended indefinitely-
The board assured Mr. Murry that they appriciated
the courtesy extended the City and assured him that
they would co-operate and see that the Street Dept.
keeps the grounds cleen.
CITIZENS WANT Mr Graves of the Graves and Howley Company made a
NIGHT WATCH plea for a Night Patrolman to be hired and was of
IN TUSTIN. the opinion that the cost of his services could be
covered by Fine collected and the City would be
better guarded by having an officer on duty. He
urged the Board to seriously consider the matter and
the Board assured him that this proposition would
get a full consideration.
BUS SERVICE Postmaster Sam Long sighted the great need for
NEEDED FOR transportation for the people of the community now
TUSTIN. that the Rubber shortage is so accute and urged
the Board to contact Transportation Companies to
see what could be worked out. It was suggested during the
the discussion that it might be possible to get an
extention of the City of Santa Ana Buss line and
that perhaps at the same time arrangments could
be made for the transportation of the commuities
Packing Houses. The matter got the hearty approval
of the members of the Board and there was a committee
of two appointed by the Mayor to look into the matter
and report at the next meeting, this was done on the
motion of Councilman Forney and seconded by Councilman
Rawlings. The motion carried and it was so ordered.
The Committee appointed by the Mayor for the investa-
gation was Councilman Cawthon and Councilman Rawlings.
DIRIGIBLE BASE Mr. Long sighted that Tustin has a chance to do the
SHOULD BELONG community a great deal of good by contacting the
TO TUSTIN. Dirigible Base and laying claim to it for the City.
This suggestion was warmly reoeived by all members
of the Board and they all agreed that all possible
would be done to further the idea.
AUDITORS Mr. Harold Frank then went over his report that

just completeihg and sighted the possiblities of
some street work that could be done on D. or B.
Streets by the Gas Tax Fund on hand.
BLACKOUT FOR Mayor Kidd then reported Blackout Lights for
EMERGENCY Emmergency Vehicles; for Dr. Weston, Chief of
VEHICLE Police , City Truck and two Spray Riggs.
The Mayor explained that John Stanton had traded
the old Radio in on the new Police Radio and said
he thought Startton had some adjustment due him on
the transaction and he would investage the matter
and bring it up again for adjustment.
STREET SUPT. On a motion by Councilman Forney Seconded By Council-
APPOINTED man Cawthon, Police Chief Jack Claborn was appoint-
ed the Street Supt. at a salary of $25.00 per month
effective as of May first. Carried and so orded.
ARM BANDS Mayor Kidd reported the ordering of Arm Bands for the verlous
ORDED Units of the defense force, and asked that the Clerk confirm
the order that had been placed with the County Co-ordinator
over the phone.
Mayor makes Mayor Kidd set aside May 22nd and 23rd as Poppy day sales
Prolamatlon for the DISABLED VETERANS by Proclamation.
On a motion by Councilman Cawthon seconded by Councilman Forney
The Mayor was autherlsed to make and sign an agreement with
Chief of Police Claborn on the transfering the Title of his
Car to the City. There being no votes to the contrery the
motion carried and it was so orded.

Councilman Forney then moved for the adjornment of the
meeting to the next meeting date of May 18 this was then
seconed by Council Rowlings. The motion Carried and it was
so orded by the Mayor.
