Minutes of the regular meeting of the city council
of the City of Tustin, held at the city hall in the City
of Tustin, California, on August 19, 1940.
Present Councilmen: Wilson, Kidd, Logan, Kiser and
Babcock,
Absent Councilmen: D.T. Hayden.
The minutes of the last regular meeting held on August
5, 1940, were read and approved.
Oral Communications:
City engineer, M. K. Hillyard, made a report on the
designation of highways of major importance approved by the
State Division of Highways for the expenditure of the one
quarter cent (1/4 cent) gasoline tax and recommended that
the agreement submitted by the State Highway Department be
approved by the City.
It was moved by Councilman Babcock, seconded by Council-
man Kiser, that Resolution No. 101, approving said project
and the budget of proposed expendites of the one quarter
cent (1/4 cent) gasoline tax allocated for streets of major
importance other than state highways and approving the agree-
ment to be executed with the State Highway Department and
authorizing the mayor and city clerk to sign the same on
behalf of the City be adopted. Carried and adopted.
The City Engineer also made a report on the exclusion ..
of certain territory within the City of Tustin and submitted
a description of the territory to be excluded. The matter
was referred to the City Attorney with a request to report
thereon at the next regular meeting.
Written Communications:
The written communications were read and filed with
the Clerk.
A report from the City of Orange on the fire damage
at the Tustin City dump ground located in the City of Orange
was received and read. The City Attorney was requested to
take the matter up with the City of Orange.
Moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Councilman
Kiser that the audit made and rendered by Diehl and Edwards
of the affairs of the City for the fiscal year 1939-1940
be accepted and approved. Carried and so ordered.
The matter of fixing the amount of the budget was
continued until the 26th day of August, 1940 pending receipt
of the amount of funds from the utility tax.
It was moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Councilman
Kiser, that the comprehensive coverage insurance policy
issued by the Orange County Automobile Club dated July
1940, with property damage of a minimum amount of $5,000.00
be approved subject to approval as to form by the City
Attorney. Carried and so ordered.
The matter of the collection of delinquent taxes
in the City of Tustin was discussed and passed until next
meeting.
It was moved by Councilman Babcock, seconded by
Councilman Kidd, that the following bills be paid:
Tustin Volunteer Fire Department $ 11.00
County of Orange 11.07
Tustin Hardware Company 5.61
Radio and Television Company 30.39
Carried and so ordered.
There being no further business to come before the
meeting, upon motion by Councilman Kiser, seconded by
Councilman Babcock, duly carried and adopted, said meeting
was adjourned untll August 26, 1940 at 8:00 P. M.
