HUSTON, CIT~' MANAGER PARKS AND RECREATION SERVICES AWARD OF BID - CENTENNIAL PARK TOT LOT & RESTROOM RENOVATION (PROJECT NO. 2056) SUMMARY: The bid opening for the Centennial Park Tot Lot & Restroom Renovation was held on December 3, 2003. City Council is requested to award the bid to Danalli Construction, Inc., in the total amount of $468,367.16. RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council award the contract to Danalli Construction, Inc. of Anaheim Hills, California in the amount of $468,367.16, subject to approval of contract requirements by the City Attorney and final execution. FISCAL IMPACT: The Project (No. 2056) is included in the 03/04 Capital Improvement Program and will be financed through the Park Development fund. The cost of the project is within the estimated budget parameter. BACKGROUND: The improvements shall consist of; demolition and replacement of the existing restroom, concrete flatwork, new tot lot play apparatus,' replacement of park security lighting and other related work. SUMMARY: Sealed bids were opened on December 3, 2003; nine bids were received. The lowest three responsive bids were as follows: Contractor Base Bid Danalli Construction Big Ben, Inc. Lehman Construction, Inc. $468,367.16 $481,000.00 $524,967.OO A reference check of the contractor, examination of bid documents, and determination that the contractor possesses a valid contractor's license has been completed. The Risk Manager will review the required bonds and insurance certificates and the City Attorney will review the contract. Construction is scheduled to begin February; all work is to be completed within seventy five calendar days after the Notice to Proceed is is .
