BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
Several years ago the City implemented a program entitled "Employee Showcase". The
purpose of the program is to allow the City Council and the public to recognize City
employees for outstanding accomplishments, service, and/or conduct that is above and
beyond the duties and/or requirements of their job. Once each year the employee
"showcased" is the employee that has been selected by his/her peers as the Employee of
the Year.
The individual selected as "Employee of the Year" is recognized as a model to other
City employees and has performed in an exceptional manner; he/she has performed
work that is outstanding in comparison to the standard. Achievements may reflect dollar
savings, system benefits, increased productivity or streamlining of procedures or
techniques.
