A regular meeting of the City Council of the
City of Tustin was held April 16th., 1934, at
eight o'clock P. M., at the City Hall of Tustin;
meeting called to order by the Mayor.
The minutes of the meeting April 2, 1934 were
read and approved.
Returns of The returns of the election held April 2, 1934,
election. were canvassed and the following results were found:
Logan, Total number of votes cast in Consolidated Vot-
Kiser, ing Precinct "A", 331 and Absent Voters Ballot
Schwendeman 1 ; Total vote cast 332.
For City Councilmen --Full Term of Four Years:
Chas. F. Logan 202
Fred L. Schwendeman 188
Edward L. Kiser 176
Walter R. Rawlings 148
Jerome C. Kidd 135
Philip H. Ebel 123
Harbour, Votes cast for City Clerk for Short or unexpired term
City Clerk. of Two Years:
Jay R. Harbour 201
John R. Kiser 2
Dwight Hayden 1
Chas F. Logan, Fred L. Schwendeman and Edward L.
Kiser were declared elected to the City Council, and
Oath of a Certificate of Election was duly authenticated and
Office signed by the City Clerk and delivered to each Council-
man elected, and to Jay R. Harbour elected as City
Clerk. The oath of office was imposed and names sub-
scribed thereto.
Resolution Resolution No. 47 declaring resolution of the elect-
ion held April,1934, was introduced and read. On
47 Read & motion of Councilman Pieper, seconded by Councilman
passed Logan, Resolution No 47 was passed by the following
vote:
Ayes: Councilmen: Huntley, Pieper, Logan,
Schwendeman, Kiser.
Noes: Councilmen: None.
Absent: Councilmen: None

Huntley Councilmen Loagn, Schwendeman and Kiser, who
appointed were duly elected at said General Municipal Election
Chairman & having been sworn in it was suggested that Council
Mayor proceed to elect one of their number to act as Chair-
man and Mayor. Councilman Kiser thereupon nominated
Huntley as Mayor, Councilman Pieper seconded the
nomination. There being no other nominations it was
moved by Councilman Kiser, seconded by Councilman
Pieper that nominations be closed and Councilman
Huntley unanimously declared elected to the office
of Chairman and Mayor. Carried and so ordered.
Mayor Huntley then proceeded to make the fol-
lowing appointments:
Commissioners Councilman Kiser was appointed as Commissioner
Appointed. of Streets, Sidewalks and Parks.
Councilman Logan was appointed as Police Com-
missioner and Fire Commissioner.
Councilman Schwendeman was appointed as Com-
missioner of Health and Sanitation.
Councilman Pieper was appointed as Commission-
er of Water and Power.
The Council as a whole were appointed as Fin-
ance Committee.
It was thereupon moved by Councilman Pieper
John Stanton and seconded by Councilman Kiser that John Stanton
Chief of Police be re-appointed as Chief of Police of the City of
Tustin. Salary to continue as at present. Carried
and so ordered.
Cain as Moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Council-
City Attorney. man Schwendeman that Morris Cain be re-appointed as
City Attorney for the City of Tustin; salary to
continue as at present. Carried and so ordered.
After discussion as to the position of City
D. L. McCharles Judge, and it appearing that there will be a General
Judge &Justice State Election held in November, 1934, at which there
of the Peace. will be elected a Justice of the Peace for Tustin
Township, and the Council deeming it advisable that
the Office of Justice of the Pease of Tustin Township
and of City Judge of the City of Tustin should be held
by the same person, it was thereupon moved as follows:
Moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Councilman
Pieper that D. L. McCharles be appointed to the off-
ice of City Judge to hold office at the pleasure of
the Board until the results of said General State
Election are ascertained; salary to continue as at
present. The appointment to fill the position of
City Judge then to be reconsidered and any appoint-
ment made thereto on or before January l, 1935 depend-
ent upon the results of the General State Election.
Carried and so ordered.
After discussion, appointment of City Engineer
was passed until next regular meeting.
Chas O. Artz The City Clerk having announced the appointment
Deputy City of C. O. Artz as Deputy Assessor of the City of Tustin
Assessor it was moved by Councilman Logan, seconded by Council-
man Pieper, that the appointment of C. O. Artz as De-
puty City Assessor of the City of Tustin be approved
and confirmed. Carried and so ordered.

Communications of Faulkner, Oakes and Faulkner
in regard to auditing accounts, and of Ed Holmes, Jr.
in regard to insurance were read and ordered filed.
Bills ordered Bills were presented and verified. On motion
Paid. by Councilman Logan, seconded by Councilman Kiser,
Duly carried, the following bills were ordered paid:
