HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1933 03 20 March 20th, 1933 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the City Council of the City of Tustin, was held in the City Hall on the above date. Meeting was called to order by the Mayor at eight o'clock P. M. Councilmen Present: Huntley, Kiser, Logan, Pieper and Schwendeman. Councilmen Absent: None. Minutes of the previous meeting were read end approved. Written communications were read by the Clerk, and the request of the Auto Club of Southern California for the City to take over the blinder light at the end of D Street was read. It was moved by Councilman Pieper, seconded by Councilman Logan, that the Clerk write the Auto Club of Southern California stating that the City did not feel any responsibility for this blinker light and did not care to take over the maintenance at this time. Carried and so ordered. The request of the Tustin Post of the American Legion to sell Fireworks on the Fourth of July was read, and it was moved by Councilman Schwendeman, seconded by Councilman Pieper that the request be granted. Carried and so ordered. The balance of the correspondence was ordered filed. Chief Riehl of the Fire Department brought up the matter of allowing the use of the Fire Hall for a point of mobilization in case of an emergency such as we have just experienced, it being under the supervision of the Chief of Police, but also to be used by what other organizations engaged in relief work in case of the emergency. It was moved by Councilman Kiser, seconded by Councilman Logan, that the City allow the use of the Fire Hall for such a purpose. Carried and so ordered. At this time it was brought to the attention of the City Council that the American Legion wanted to purchase areal bombs to be used in the signal for emergency purposes, and had requested that the City join them in the expense of these bombs, and it was moved by Councilman Pieper, seconded by Councilman Logan that the City pay 50% of the cost of six areal bombs for the purpose of signal for emergency purposes. Carried and so ordered. Councilman Pieper reports the purchase of five Palm trees to be placed on D Street to replace the acacia trees removed. It was moved by Councilman Schwendeman, seconded by Councilman Logan, that the bills be paid. Carried and so ordered.
