HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC MINUTES 1955 05 09 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, HELD ON MAY 9, 1955, AT 7:30 P. M., IN THE CITY HALL OF TUSTIN PRESENT: Kidd, Tadlock, Park, Bacon. Sauers arrived late. City Clerk Samuel C. Penington was absent. City Attorney C. Arthur Nisson, Jr. being present was directed to act as Clerk Pro Tem by Mayor Kidd. Minutes of the regular meeting of April 25, 1955, were read and approved as read. A letter was read from Mrs. John C. DeGrasse, of the Non-Commissioned Officers Wives of the E1 Toro Marine Base requesting permission to solicit funds for the Navy Relief Drive. On motion of Park, seconded by Bacon and duly carried, permission was granted to the Non-Commissioned Officers Wives at El Toro, California, to set up 'a solicitation stand in the City of Tustin for the purpose of soliciting funds for the Annual Navy Relief Fund Drive on the dates of May 12, 13, 14 and May 19, 20 and 21, location to be selected by the solicitors. City Clerk to notify Mrs. John C. DeGrasse at 8742-1/2 Midway Drive, Santa Ana, of action taken. ORDINANCE NO. Park moved that Ordinance No. 93 be read by title 93 ADOPTED. only on second reading. Tadlock seconded and the mo- tion was duly carried all members voting Aye. Park moved, Bacon seconded that Ordinance No. 93 be adopted. On roll call all members voted Aye. Tadlock moved, Sauers seconded, that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign the contract with the R. J. Noble Company for Project No. 22, and that said contract be delivered after the City Attorney has approved the contractor's performance bond. CONTRACT AWARDED Bids for painting of the City Hall were opened from FOR PAINTING Kull, who bid $902.90, Bill D. Dedmon, $809.00, CITY HALL William E. Winter, $875.00, Taylor & Howie, 650.00, E. Mathews, $925.00 and Martin Dwyer, $513,56. Sauers moved, Tadlock seconded, and the motion was duly carried, authorizing the City Attorney to draw a contract to award said painting to the lowest bidder in accordance with the specifications sub- mitted for the informal bidding. Said lowest bidder appeared to be Martin Dwyer and second lowest bidder was Taylor & Howie, also authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign the contract for painting. BILLS Park moved, Sauers seconded, that the bills be paid. Motion was duly carried.
