RESOLUTION NO. 93-108
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR
TRADE AND COMMERCE FUNDS TO OFFSET
PLANNING COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE
CLOSURE AND REUSE OF MARINE CORPS
AIR STATION, TUSTIN
The City Council of the City of Tustin, California, DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE as follows:
WHEREAS, the California Trade and Commerce Agency
has recently created the California Defense Adjustment
Matching Grant Program providing funding for cities and
counties impacted by cutbacks in defense spending and
military base closure; and
WHEREAS, these funds are intended ~o offset local
government federal grant assistance matching fund
requirements associated with the development of military
base reuse plans and other defense conversion programs;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Tustin has fo_~mally received
award of a $750,000 and $88,500 grant from the federal
Office of Economic Adjustment for community planning
assistance necessary for the development of a reuse plan
for the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), Iustin, approved
for closure by the President and Congress of the United
States in 1991; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Economic Adjustment grant
required that the City commit to fund a portion of the
cost associated the development of the base reuse plan
required for the closure of MCAS, Tustin, the cost of
which is currently estimated at aproxima~ely $169,855;
WHEREAS, 50% of the City's of the costs associated
with these efforts qualify for reimbursement through the
California Defense Adjustment Matching Grant Program;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council:
Approves the filing of an application for the
reimbursement of these costs from the
California Trade and Commerce Agency; and
Appoints the Assistant City Manager or her
authorized representative as the agent to
apply, approve, sign and execute in the name
of the city of Tustin any documents necessary
for applying for funding under the California

Trade and Commerce Agency's Defense Adjustment
Matching Grant Program and for entering into
an agreement, including any amendments
thereto, with the Trade and Commerce Agency in
the event that funding is awarded under that
program.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Tustin City Council held.on the 20th day of September,
1993.
