STACK, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEER SUBJECT: ADOPT RESOLUTION NO. 17-14 TO ACCEPT IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE COUNCIL CHAMBER RENOVATIONS CONSTRUCTION PROJECT CIP NO. 10075 SUMMARY Construction of the Council Chamber Renovations Project (CIP No. 10075) has been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and the project is now ready for City Council acceptance. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council: 1. Adopt Resolution No. 17-14 accepting the construction of the Council Chamber Renovations Project (CIP No. 10075); and 2. Authorize the City Engineer to execute and file the Notice of Completion with the County Recorder's Office. FISCAL IMPACT The final construction cost for the Council Chamber Renovations Project (CIP No. 10075) is $623,795. Sufficient funds were budgeted and appropriated in the amount of $684,000. CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN The Council Chambers Renovations Project contributes to the fulfillment of the City's Strategic Plan Goal B: Public Safety and Protection of Assets. Specifically, the project implementation of Strategy 3, which among other items, is to ensure continuous improvement of public facilities. BACKGROUND The project consisted of the installation of ballistic hardening in key areas and fixed security posts for police department personnel; new audience assembly seating, including new ADA accessible platform seating; new storefront entry with ADA door actuation, podium area reconfiguration, integrate audio visual components, auxiliary AC outlets and data ports; lighting conversion with new controls, exit signage and safety lighting; various new aesthetic finishes, millwork, carpet, paint, and T -bar ceiling; including raising the existing soffit for new main display audio/visual projection, assisted listening devices, and new sound attenuation wall coverings along the sides and front of the chambers. Resolution No. 17-14 SACity Council Items\2017 Council Items\05-02-2017\NOC - Council Chambers\NOC for Council Chambers Renovations.docx RESOLUTION NO. 17-14 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE RECORDATION OF THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE COUNCIL CHAMBER RENOVATION PROJECT (CIP 10075) WHEREAS, TBC Contractors, Inc., having a contract with the City of Tustin to construct the hereinafter described public works and improvement; and WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and completion of said public improvement hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions of the contract documents and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said public works and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract authorized in accordance with the contract documents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin that said public works and improvement is found to be complete, and the same is hereby accepted. Said public works and improvement is more particularly described as follows: Council Chamber Renovation Project (CIP 10075) BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance of said public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
