SUBJECT: FEE WAIVER REQUEST FOR THE TUSTIN AREA COUNCil FOR FINE
ARTS (TACFA) - BROADWAY IN THE PARK
SUMMARY
The Tustin Area Council for Fine Arts has requested a waiver of staff costs, facility
rental and permit fees for the 2007 Broadway in the Park program scheduled August
21-26,2007. Barbara Foster, President ofTACFA will give a short presentation.
RECOMMENDA TION
Grant a fee waiver of staff costs and equipment of $8,856 and issue a permit for the
Tustin Area Council for Fine Arts Broadway in the Park program to be held at
Peppertree Park.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Parks and Recreation Department, the Police Department and the Public Works
Department have provided services to support the Broadway in the Park program. The
Parks and Recreation Department provides $3,366 of full time and part-time in-kind
labor for staff support. The Police Department provides staff assigned labor at a cost of
$1,100. The Public Works Department provides $460 of staff assigned labor. The fees
for facility use of the Dick Edgar Stage and meeting rooms at the Senior Center amount
to $3,930. In the past five years this entire amount has been absorbed within each
respective department's budget.
BACKGROUND
The Tustin Area Council for Fine Arts has produced and coordinated the Broadway in
the Park program since 2001. The production program itself runs for a five night period
during the third or fourth week of August at Peppertree Park. Prior to the production,
three nights are scheduled for rehearsal and logistic setup. In addition to the facility use
of Peppertree Park, meetings and rehearsal times are scheduled. The Tustin Area
Council for Fine Arts utilizes the Senior Center for Board meetings and auditions.
During the months of September through May, one monthly TACFA Board Meeting is
held at the Senior Center facility. Beginning in June, additional meetings are scheduled
for the Broadway in the Park program and steering committee functions. The Broadway

program has a dedicated permit for the Peppertree Park Dick Edgar Stage for an eight
night period.
TACFA has provided scholarships to students, presented art programs in classrooms,
coordinated art exhibits, concerts and drama productions throughout our community.
The Tustin Area Council for Fine Arts is requesting that fee waivers for all labor, facility
use and permits be granted. A member of the Tustin Area Council for Fine Arts will be
in attendance at the February 5 Council meeting to give a brief presentation and answer
any questions.
