BACKGROUND:
Requests from local high schools have taken place since 1989. Grad Nite activities will
be held on June 14,2007, from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
The Grad Nite Committees are made up of parent volunteers. The committees need
help to provide graduation celebrations for over 1 ,220 graduating seniors. The purpose
of the program is to provide a safe environment for seniors in secondary schools in our
community to celebrate their graduation from high school. This program is designed to
keep Tustin teens safe, while realizing there are appropriate ways to celebrate by
coordinating these Grad Nite programs.
Representatives from the three high schools will be in attendance to answer any
questions; Teri Jensen, from Foothill High School; Trish Andrews, from Tustin High
School; and Marianne Bjorndahl, from Beckman High School.
Respectfully submitted,
Patrick Sanchez

To Tustin City Council Members:
We are writing on behalf of Foothill High, Tustin High and Beckman High Grad Nite
Committees. We are respectfully requesting a donation of $2500 each to help provide a
safe environment for the seniors of your city to celebrate their graduation from high
school.
Your past support of these events has been greatly appreciated. It shows you understand
the seriousness of the teen drug and alcohol problem which exists. It means you
understand that 60% of teen accidents involve alcohol. It means you would like to see
Tustin teens remain safe while realizing there is an appropriate way to celebrate-without
the use of alcohol, sex, and drugs.
We are so excited to offer this safe and sober event to the 1220* young adults graduating
this year and know that all the parents are likewise excited to know their children will be
celebrating safely. The families throughout Tustin are glad to have council members that
continue to support events like this.
Thank you for your consideration.
