HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 99-075 RESOLUTION NO. 99-75 I 2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 3 TUSTIN, CALIFORNIA SUPPORTING THE "FAIR COMPETITION AND TAXPAYER SAVINGS INITIATIVE" 5 WHEREAS, State, regional and local governments are currently allowed the flexibility to 6 contract with private firms, on a competitive basis, to design public projects; and 7 WHEREAS, this process allows government at all levels the ability to use private firms to deliver a project on-time and cost effectively; and 8 9 WHEREAS, various legal challenges to current interpretations of State law and the California Constitution have questioned State and local agency processes and practices for l0 awarding and managing professional service contracts for every project local project; and 1I WHEREAS, the "Fair Competition and Taxpayer Savings Initiative" would amend the California Constitution and insure that State and local agencies can continue to rely on the 12 current process for all local projects; and l 3 WHEREAS, the failure to pass this initiative would 'likely result in the delay of hundreds 14 of local, regional and State projects. 15 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Tustin, California, does hereby: 16 1. Support the "Government Cost Savings and Taxpayers Protection Initiative"; and 17 18 2.
