SUBJECT: NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR PEPPERTREE PARK (CIP 10032) AND
CAMINO REAL PARK (CIP 20054) LIGHTING IMPROVEMENTS
SUMMARY
Construction for the Peppertree Park Lighting Improvements (CIP No. 10032) and Camino Real
Park Lighting Improvements (CIP No. 20054) has been completed to the satisfaction of the City
Engineer and is now ready for City Council acceptance.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 17-34 and 17-35 accepting the construction of the Peppertree
Park Lighting Improvements (CIP No. 10032) and Camino Real Park Lighting
Improvements (CIP No. 20054); and
2. Authorize the City Engineer to execute and file the Notices of Completion with the
County Recorder's Office.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Peppertree Park Lighting Improvements (CIP No. 10032) was funded through Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) fund. The final construction cost for the project is $132,100
and no change orders were required to complete this project. The final construction cost for
Camino Real Park Lighting Improvements (CIP No. 20054) is $132,366 including an authorized
contract change order in the amount of $10,778.
CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN
The recommended actions contribute to the fulfillment of the City's Strategic Plan Goal B, Public
Safety and Protection of Assets.
BACKGROUND
On March 7, 2017, City Council authorized the award of contract to Comet Electric, Inc. for the
Peppertree Park Lighting Improvements CIP No. 10032 and Camino Real Park Lighting
Improvements CIP No. 20054. Light emitting diode (LED) area lighting technology is now
installed and will provide longer life cycles, lower energy consumption, longer maintenance
intervals, and higher quality of light in the parks.

Construction of both projects was completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer on June 21,
2017 and June 30, 2017 respectively and is now ready for City Council acceptance.

RESOLUTION NO. 17-34
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING THE WORKS OF IMPROVEMENT AND
AUTHORIZING THE RECORDATION OF THE NOTICE OF
COMPLETION FOR THE PEPPERTREE PARK LIGHTING PROJECT
(CIP 10032)
WHEREAS, Comet Electric, Inc., having a contract with the City of Tustin to
construct the hereinafter described public works and improvement; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has duly certified to the construction and
completion of said public improvement hereinafter mentioned in a manner satisfactory
to the City Council of the City of Tustin; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that said contractor has completed said public
improvement hereinafter more particularly described in accordance with the provisions
of the contract documents and the Notice of Completion, and acceptance of said public
works and improvement should be filed and payment of the balance due said contract
authorized in accordance with the contract documents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Tustin
that said public works and improvement is found to be complete, and the same is
hereby accepted.
Said public works and improvement is more particularly described as follows:
Peppertree Park Lighting Project

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Engineer of the City of Tustin is
hereby authorized to execute and file a Notice of Completion for the acceptance of said
public works and improvement described herein as required by law.
