TUSTIN PLANNING COMMISSION
JULY 11, 2017
CALL TO ORDER: 7:00 p.m.

At this time members of the public may address the Commission regarding any items not on the agenda
and within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission (NO action can be taken on off-agenda
items unless authorized by law). If you wish to address the Commission on any matter, please fill out
one of the forms located at the speaker’s podium so that your remarks within the recording of the meeting
can be attributed to you. Completion of this form is not mandatory, but accurately provides your
information for the record.
CONSENT CALENDAR:
All matters listed under the Consent Calendar are considered routine and will be enacted by one motion.
There will be no separate discussion of these items prior to the time of the voting on the motion unless
members of the Commission, staff, or public request specific items to be discussed and/or removed from
the Consent Calendar for separate action.
1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – JUNE 13, 2017
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Planning Commission approves the Minutes of the June 13, 2017 Planning
Commission meeting, as provided.
Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Planning Commission regarding any item on this
agenda will be made available for public inspection in the Community Development Department located at
300 Centennial Way, Tustin, California, during normal business hours.

prior to the meeting will enable the City to make reasonable arrangements to assure accessibility to
this meeting.

REGULAR BUSINESS:
2. NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES SUPPORT OF NOMINATION FOR
DAVID HEWES HOUSE, 350 SOUTH B STREET

The State of California Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) has notified the City of
Tustin that it will consider and take action on the nomination of the Hewes House
located at 350 South B Street to the National Register of Historic Places on July 28,
2017. The National Register is the federal government’s official list of historic
buildings and other cultural resources worthy of preservation. Listing in the National
Register provides recognition and assists in preserving California’s cultural heritage.
When a property is listed on the National Register, it is automatically included in the
California Register of Historical Resources (California Register).
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Planning Commission adopt Resolution No. 4345 in support of the
nomination to add the David Hewes House located at 350 South B Street to the
Secretary of Interior’s National Register of Historic Places (National Register); and,
direct transmittal of Resolution No. 4345 to the State of California Office of Historic
Preservation.

3. SUMMARY OF PROJECTS
The report focuses on the status of projects that the Planning Commission, Zoning
Administrator, or staff approved; major improvement projects; Certificates of
Appropriateness; Code Enforcement activities; and, other items which may be of
interest to the Commission.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Planning Commission receive and file this item.
