Attached for the City Council's information is a letter from the Tustin Unified
School District regarding surplus school sites. As indicated in the letter, the
Board has declared three sites surplus.
Since the Board's most recent action varies with its March 1987 decision, staff
will need to review the City's status with regard to the procedural steps for
negotiating the acquistion of surplus school sites. And unless otherwise
directed by the City Council, staff will initiate discussions with the District
and begin an analysis of the economic feasibility of acquiring the sites.

Re: City's Request to Purchase Surplus School Properties
Dear Mr. Huston:
In March 1987, you advised that the City of Tustin desired to
purchase certain real property declared surplus by the Governing
Board of this school district.
At the regular meeting December 7, 1987, the Board authorized
the district administration to proceed toward sale of the
following schools at this time:
Del Norte School
18341 Lassen Drive
Santa Ana, CA
Red Hill School
11911 Red Hill Avenue
Santa Ana, CA
Guin Foss School
18492 Vanderlip Avenue
Santa Ana, CA
If the City is still interested in purchase of any of the above
property, please contact my office for preliminary discussions
between staff representatives of our two agencies.
Sincerely,
L. E. Suthe and, Jr.
