CORRELATION TO THE STRATEGIC PLAN: This project advances Goal A of the City of Tustin Strategic Plan regarding Economic and Neighborhood Development by making improvements to existing facilities to expand recreational activities. BACKGROUND: The interior finishes of the Community Center auditorium are original to when the facility was constructed in 1991. The Community Services Commission has identified the upgrade of this community center as next in line on their seven-year CIP priority list. The design for this renovation was completed by Rengel and Co. Architects, the same company that designed the Community Center Kitchen renovation which was completed in 2014. In addition to upgrading the flooring, ceiling and wall panels with more attractive and updated finishes, this project will also include energy efficient LED lighting. It is expected that these aesthetic improvements will make the facility a more viable option for private party rentals resulting in increased revenue.
