SUBJECT:
CITYWIDE BLOOD DRIVE
SUMMARY:
Our citywide blood drive has been scheduled through the efforts of the City of Tustin's
Parks and Recreation Department, the Police Department and the Human Resources
Department. This blood drive is designed to help during the summer season since
there is currently a serious shortage of blood. All of the blood collected through our
drive will stay in our community to benefit local hospitals.
RECOMMENDATION: Receive a brief presentation.
BACKGROU N D:
Thanks to support from Marilyn Esposito, Recreation Supervisor, Bob Wright and Brian
Green of the Tustin Police Department, and Vanessa Arizaga of Parks and Recreation,
a community wide blood drive, through a cooperative arrangement with St. Joseph's
Hospital, will be held at the Clifton C. Miller Community Center on Friday, July 9th from
11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tustin citizens will be able to help by calling Blood Drive contact Vanessa Arizaga at
(714) 573-3347 to reserve an appointment. All donors will receive a T-shirt or a
certificate for a pint of Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream as a gesture of appreciation.
It is noteworthy to point out that less than 5% of the American population donates blood,
but 90% of our population will need a blood product by the age of 70. We can never be
sure what our future holds, but donating blood to our local hospitals is one sure way to
help. This drive will assist in helping our local residents.
