Dear Stakeholder,
This email is being sent to you, because your organization or business has been
identified as one that may have an interest in signs in the public right-of-way.
On August 8, 2017, the Planning Commission held a second workshop on the topic
of temporary signs within the public right-of-way and discussed three (3) code
amendment options addressing the regulation of temporary signs in the public
right-of-way in light of the United States Supreme Court decision in Reed v. Town of
Gilbert, AZ. The Commission received public input and directed staff to return with
a modified option for Commission consideration prior to public notification and the
publication of public hearing notices.
On September 26, 2017, at their regular meeting beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the
City Council Chamber, the Planning Commission will be considering staff's
recommendation to direct staff to draft an ordinance addressing temporary signs
in the public right-of-way based on a modified version of Options One and Two
and conduct required public noticing and targeted noticing to impacted
properties prior to the Planning Commission public hearing. A copy of the staff
report is attached to this email.
We encourage you to forward this email to any members of your organization
who may have an interest in this matter. If you would like more information
about the meeting or the proposed code amendment, please feel free to contact
me.
