CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
225 W. MAIN STREET
MARCH 31, 1990
In accordance with Ordinance 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988
by the City Council, the Director of Community Development has the
authority to approve, approve with conditions, or deny a
Certificate of Appropriateness for improvements requiring building
permits for property located within the Cultural Resources Overlay
District.
One or more of the following findings are required before a
Certificate of Appropriateness is issued for demolition of a
residence:
a. The structure/site is a hazard to public health or safety and
repairs or stabilization are not physically possible.
b. The site is required for a public use which will be of more
benefit to the public than the Cultural Resource, and there
is no feasible alternative location for the public use.
C. For a Designated Cultural Resource only:
1. It is not feasible to preserve or restore the structure,
taking into consideration the economic feasibility of
alternatives to the proposal.
2. The proposed replacement structure does not detract from
the neighborhood.
d. Reconstruction or restoration is not economically feasible or
practical.
The Director of Community Development has reviewed the proposed
project to install a new HVAC system in the sanctuary located at
225 W: Main Street and has determined that the proposed
improvements are consistent with the above provisions, and
therefore, approves a Certificate of Appropriateness, -subject to
the condition that a field inspection by the Planning Division is
required to determine the extent of visibility of mechanical
equipment. If determined to be visible, appropriate screening as
identified on the plans will be required.
