Approval is based on the following criteria:
1. The rear house on Myrtle Street has a existing six
(6) foot high wood fence in its front yard abutting
.the proposed fence as shown in Attachment A.
2. Public Works has reviewed the location of the
proposed wood fence and has determined that it will

CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
705 WEST MAIN STREET
NEW STREET -SIDE YARD FENCE FOR A RESIDENCE
In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted
June 20, 1988 by the Tustin City Council, the Community
Development Director has the authority to approve,
approve with conditions or deny Certification of
Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City
building permit for property located within a Cultural
Resource District.
The following findings are required before a Certificate
of Appropriateness is issued:
a. The proposed work conforms to the Municipal Code
and design standards which may be established from
time to time by the Cultural Resources Committee.
b. The proposed work does not adversely affect the
character of the District or Designated Cultural
Resources within the District.
C. The proposed work is .harmonious with existing
surroundings. The extent of. harmony shall be
evaluated in terms of appropriateness of materials,
scale, size, height, placement and use of a new
building or structure in relationship to existing
buildings and structures and the surrounding
setting.
The Community Development Director has reviewed the new
wood fencing proposal for the rear street -side yard of
the subject residence and has determined that the.
proposal is in conformance with the above requirements.
The proposed cedar wood boards are similar in appearance
to the existing fencing material of the adjoining rear
residence and of the time period 'appropriate for the
subject residence. Furthermore, the subject fence serves
a valid need for security and privacy for the residents.
The proposed work is hereby approved, subject to the
following conditions:

1. Prior to the construction of any new fence
work, the applicant shall obtain a building
permit and pay all applicable plan check and
permit fees.
2. The cedar wood fence shall be limited to six
(6) feet in height and constructed in
accordance with the attached exhibits.
3. The wood fence shall be covered with a
protective sealant consisting of either clear
water proofer, wood stain or paint.
