In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001, which was adopted June 20,
1988, by the Tustin City Council, the Community Development
Director has the authority to approve, approve with, conditions, or
deny a Certificate of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a
City building permit for property located within a Cultural
Resource District. The following findings are required before a
Certificate of Appropriateness is issued:
1. The proposed work conforms to the Municipal Code and design
standards which may be established from time to time by the
Cultural Resources Committee;
2. The proposed work does not adversely affect the character of
the District or Designated Cultural Resources within. the
District; and
3. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings.
The extent of harmony shall be evaluated in terms of
appropriateness of materials, scale, size, height, placement
and use of a new building or structure in relationship to
existing buildings and structures an the surrounding setting.
The proposed project consists of a two car garage structure(30x2O)
at the north western corner of the existing house at 305.W. Sixth
Street, a 'C' rated California Bungalow built in 1928. The
applicant is proposing a different color scheme than the existing
house with the intention of repainting and reroofing the existing
house to match the new garage.
The Community Development Department has reviewed the proposed
garage and has determined that the proposal is in conformance with
the above requirements. The proposed work is hereby approved,
subject to the following conditions:
1. All exterior walls of the proposed garage shall be clap -board
siding to match the existing house.
2. The roofing material of the proposed garage shall match the
house in material and color upon the completion of the garage
and improvements to the existing house.
