In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001, which was adopted June 20,
1988, by. the Tustin City Council, the Community Development
Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions, or
deny a Certificate of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a
City building permit for property located within a Cultural
Resource District: The following findings are required before a
Certificate of Appropriateness is issued:
1. The proposed work conforms to the Municipal Code and design
standards which may be established from time to time by the
Cultural Resources Committee;
2. The proposed work does not adversely affect the character of
the District or Designated Cultural Resources within the
.District; and
3. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings.
The extent of harmony shall be evaluated in terms of
appropriateness of materials, scale, size, height, placement
and use of a new building or structure in relationship to
existing buildings and structures an the surrounding setting.
The proposed project consists of replacing existing roofing
materials on the non-contributing structure at 765 El Camino Real.
The applicant is proposing replacing the existing aluminum roofing
with a tan./brown composite shingle roofing. The Community
Development Department has reviewed the proposed re -roofing sample
materials. The proposed work is hereby, approved, subject to the
following conditions:
1. Prior to the start of any roofing work, the applicant
shall obtain a building permit and pay all applicable
plan check and permit fees.
2. Any replacement or repair of an existing feature of the
roof (ie. facia, gutters, downspout, roof vents,
chimneys) shall match the existing materials, finish and
color the existing structure.'
