CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
230 S. B STREET
DEMOLITION OF AN ACCESSORY STRUCTURE
In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988 by the Tustin City
Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with
conditions or deny Certificates of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building
permit for property located within a Cultural Resource District.
The project involves demolition of a small, accessory structure located on the rear of the property at
230 South B Street. The primary structure on the property (a residence) is'a "C" rated structure per
the Tustin Historical Resources Survey. The accessory structure appears to be more than 50 years
old and was used primarily for storage.
The Community Development Department finds and determines as follows:
• A. The accessory structure is not recognized by the Tustin Historical Resources Survey as a
rated structure.
B. The accessory structure is in. substantial disrepair and would require significant
reconstruction and stabilization which is not economically feasible for the property owner.
C. The accessory structure is currently unsecured and poses a potential safety hazard.
D. The accessory structure is not easily visible from the public right-of-way in that it is located
adjacent to the rear property line and is situated behind a large avocado tree. The removal of
this structure would not adversely affect the rating of the residence on the property, the
streetscape as a whole, or the character of the district.
The project is hereby approved, subject to the following condition:
1. All materials and debris shall be removed from the site within thirty (30) days of issuance of
the demolition permit.
