CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
190 El Camino Real
REROOF OF A NON-RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURE
In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988 by the Tustin City Council, the
Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions or deny Certificates
of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building permit for property located within a Cultural
Resource District.
The proposed project involves the 1) removal of the existing grey composition shingle roofing on the pitched
portion of the roof and rock roofing on the flat portion of the roof, and 2) replacement of grey composition
shingle roofing on the pitched portion of the roof and paved "hot mop" roofing on the flat portion of the roof.
The building has been altered significantly and is rated "D" by the Tustin Historical Resources Survey.
The Community Development Department finds and determines as follows:
A. The proposed work conforms to the Municipal Code and TCC Section 8103(m) in that the proposed
roof is a minimum Class B roof covering assembly.
B. The proposed work does not adversely affect the character of the District or Designated Cultural
Resources within the District in that the proposed roofing that will be visible from the public -right -of
way material matches the roofing material that was documented in the Tustin Historical Resources
Survey.
C. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings in that the new roofing material that
will be visible from the public right-of-way matches the existing roofing material that was
documented in the Tustin Historical Resources Survey.
The project is hereby approved, subject to the following conditions:
With the exception of the roof, all features of the building, including architectural characteristics,
materials, finish, and colors, shall be restored to their original condition if altered or damaged
during the proposed work.
2. No additional alterations other than the proposed work (re -roof) is authorized by this Certificate of
Appropriateness and associated building permit. The property owner or any designated
representative shall contact the Community Development Department to determine whether permits
are required prior to the start of any additional work.
