CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS

Tustin, CA 92780
(714) 573-3100
In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988 by the
Tustin City Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to
approve, approve with conditions or deny Certificates of Appropriateness for
improvements requiring a City building permit for property located within a Cultural
Resource District.
The proposed project includes construction of a 379 square foot front porch
addition to an existing residence which is identified as a "A" rated Victorian Greek
Revival structure per the Tustin Historical Resources Survey.
The Community Development Department finds and determines as follows:
A. The proposed work will conform to the Municipal Code and TCC Section
8103(m) in that the proposed work will require issuance of a building permit
and site inspections.
B. The proposed work does not adversely affect the character of the District or,
Designated Cultural Resources within the District in that the proposed porch
would be constructed to restore the house to its original condition as
documented in a photograph published in the Orange County Herald in
January 1897, which is consistent with the architectural character of the
existing rated structure. As conditioned, the proposed porch will be
constructed of materials that match the existing residence as documented in
the Tustin Historical Resources Survey.
C. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings in that the
porch addition complements the style, material, and scale of the existing and
the surrounding properties.
