CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
180 South A Street
ADDITION TO A CONTRIBUTING STRUCTURE
In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988 by the Tustin City
Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions
or deny Certificates of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building permit for property
located within a Cultural Resource District. The proposed project includes the construction of a 245
square foot addition to the south side of an "A" rated Victorian -Greek Revival single family residential
structure per the Tustin Historical Resources Survey.
The Community Development Department finds and determines as follows:
°,. In accordance with Tustin City Code Section 9252(H)(1)(a), the proposed work will not
adversely affect the existing structure and, as conditioned, is compatible with the Victorian -
Greek Revival architectural style.
S. In accordance with Tustin City Code Section 9252(H)(1)(b), the proposed addition, as
conditioned, will retain the essential elements which make the existing residence culturally
sianificant.
C. In accordance with Tustin City Code Section 9252(H)(2)(a) the proposed work conforms to .
the Municipal Code and as conditioned conforms to the City of Tustin Residential Design
Guidelines.
D. In accordance with Tustin City Code Section 9252(H)(2)(b) the proposed work, as conditioned
under Design Review 99-004 will not adversely affect the character of the District or
Designated Cultural Resources within the District.
E. In accordance with Tustin City Code Section 9252(H)(2)(c) the proposed work, as conditioned
under Design Review 99-004 is harmonious with the existing surroundings. In evaluating this,
the appropriateness of materials, scale, size, height, placement and use of the new buildings
in relationship to existing structures and the surrounding setting was considered.

The proposed work is hereby approved, subject to the following conditions:
The applicant shall be comply with all other conditions of approval for Design Review 00-011
contained in Exhibit A attached to the letter dated April 27, 2000.
