CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
420 W. MAIN STREET
An A -RATED STRUCTURE
In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988 by the Tustin City
Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions
or deny Certificates of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building permit for property
located within a Cultural Resource District. The proposed project includes interior repairs to
flooring and framing, and exterior repairs to the siding. The repairs are needed as a result of
a fire, and will return the damaged areas to original condition. The proposed plans also
include the installation a single 200 -amp electrical service panel along the west of the house
to replace an existing, outdated 100 -amp electrical panel.
The Community Development Department finds and determines as follows.-

A. The proposed work does not adversely affect the character of the District or Designated
Cultural Resources within the District in that the proposed repair work will return the damaged
areas to the original condition. In addition, the electrical panel would be installed at the west
side of the house and is consistent with the character of the building.
B. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings in that the proposed repair work
and electrical panel are consistent with the style of the existing house.
C. Maintaining the house in its original condition will enhance the aesthetics of the property.
The proposed work is hereby approved, subject to the following conditions:
Prior to the start of any work, the applicant shall obtain a building permit and pay all applicable
plan check and permit fees.
2. Any replacement or repair of any existing features shall match the existing materials, finish
and colors of the existing structure, more specifically known as the Victorian "Stick"
architectural style.
