CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
415 W. SIXTH STREET
ADDITION OF A PORCH COLUMN TO A "B RATED" RESIDENTIAL VICTORIAN ITALIANATE
STRUCTURE
In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988, by the Tustin City
Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions,
or deny Certificates of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building permit for property
located within a Cultural Resource District. The proposed project includes the addition of a porch
column to the front facade of the building. The proposed porch column will be placed
proportionately from the three existing porch columns and will be of similar height, color and
material as the existing columns. The residential structure is a "B -rated" Victorian Italianate
structure per the Tustin Historical Resources Survey.
The Community Development Department finds and determines as follows:
A. In accordance with TCC Section 8101 (301.2.1) the proposed column requires a building
permit.
B. The _proposed work does not adversely affect the character of the District or Designated
Cultural Resources within the District in that the proposed porch column would actually be a
replacement to an original porch column that is thought to have been removed during a
renovation prosect pre -1970's.
C. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings in that the proposed porch
column is of similar color and style to the existing porch columns.
