REROOF OF A NON -RATED STRUCTURE
In accordance with Ordinance No. 1001 which was adopted June 20, 1988, by the Tustin City
Council, the Community Development Director has the authority to approve, approve with conditions,
or deny Certificates of Appropriateness for improvements requiring a City building permit for property
located within a Cultural Resource District. The proposed project includes the removal of an
existing composition roofing material and replacement with a new 30 year `B' rated
composition roofing material. The existing California Bungalow home is a "D" rated structure
per the Tustin Historical Resources Survey Report.
The Community Development Department finds and determines as follows:
A. The proposed work conforms to the Municipal Code and any applicable design standards in
that in accordance with TCC Section 8103 (m) the proposed roof is a `B' rated composition
roof.
B. The proposed work does not adversely affect the character of the District or designated
cultural resources within the District in that the proposed composition shingle roof installation
is necessary to ensure the continued protection and integrity of the home. The existing roof is
replaced with a new roof shingle of the same Copper Canyon Brown material and color.
C. The proposed work is harmonious with existing surroundings in that the proposed roof is
consistent with the style of the existing roof and appropriate for the style of the house The
proposed roofing material charcoal color is compatible with the existing house colors.
The proposed work is hereby approved, subject to the following conditions:
Prior to the start of any work, the applicant shall obtain a building permit and pay all applicable
plan check and permit fees.
2. Any replacement or repair of any existing features surrounding the roof shall match the
existing materials, finish, and colors of the existing structure.
3. Vent pipes and stacks that protrude through the roof shall match the color of the roof material.
